My Heart For Worship

 In Worship

On July 29, 2018, we welcomed Hannah Hendrie as our new Worship & Creative Arts Leader. After much prayer, the Watershed leadership team felt the Holy Spirit’s confirmation to appoint Hannah to lead our worship team into this new season and we are super excited to have her on board. I asked her to share a bit about herself and her heart for worship and below is what Hannah had to share.

About Me

I am so excited to be in this worship leadership position at Watershed and I’m excited to share my heart for worship with you all! For those of you who don’t know, I just graduated with my Associates of Worship Leadership Degree after being away at The King’s University in Texas for the past two years. Prior to that I graduated from a worship school in Wisconsin as well as taking part in several other worship programs throughout the years. I’ve been leading worship for the past seven years and I love having the opportunity to worship Jesus and lead others into the throne room!

Worship leading had actually never been something I thought I would be doing for long. It was more of a side thing as I desired to be a schoolteacher instead. But God spoke to my heart and told me that He’s called me to music and being a worship leader. So here I am following Him! I love to worship Jesus and my heart is for others to know his incredible love, power, joy, and the hope He brings. My passion for worship has only grown over the years and I desire for others to have that same passion for worshiping the King of kings!

About Worship

Worship is so much more than just something we do on Sunday mornings. Worship should be our lifestyle. It should be a part of everything we do from cleaning to driving to talking to others. We were made to worship and we are always worshiping something; whether we know it or not! Oftentimes we don’t even realize that we’ve let something else take the place of worship in our lives. At times we need to step back and ask ourselves what we are giving our worship to. What are you worshiping? That “something” should be the King of kings! We were created to glorify God and to give Him honor in everything we say and do.

My Heart for Watershed’s Worship

I desire excellence, true worship, and unity not only for the worship team but also for the church body. I desire for us to truly engage in worship, to have a greater understanding of the importance of worship, and to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. Not only do we have the opportunity to give God glory and adoration through our worship, but worship also benefits us! Did you know that worshiping Him brings us life, freedom, peace, joy, hope and so many more good things?! Isn’t that amazing? We serve such a good God who wants what’s best for us and desires for us to surrender to Him in worship- not just for His benefit but for ours. He loves to draw close to us in our worship because He cares for us and desires for us to know Him more- and we grow in our relationship with Him when we worship Him! As we grow closer to Jesus, we desire to fully give Him our praise and to surrender our lives to Him completely. I hope that as a church body we can begin to recognize the greatness of worshiping the Lord and fully surrendering to Him. Whether that be by raising our hands, singing, dancing, or getting on our faces, worship is a beautiful act of surrender, adoration, and joy that brings us closer to the Father. I’m looking forward to all God has for us in worship as a church body and look forward to getting to grow with you all!
